EMDR, PTSD and Trauma Counselling

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by an event that is experienced as terrifying. Symptoms often include acute anxiety, flashbacks and/or nightmares as well as sleep difficulty and a preoccupation about what happened, sometimes over quite long periods of time. Trauma counselling is a form of therapy that focuses on healing the symptoms of trauma.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. The 'bi-lateral' stimulation that occurs during eye-movements can also be achieved via TAPPING.

EMDR is especially suited to help you to process the psychological symptoms caused by traumatic experiences that can lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Post Traumatic Stress Reaction (PTSR).

EMDR is often part of a broader psychotherapy, but it can also be used independently as a technique to help you to process difficult past events. The attached link is related to the efficacy of on-line EMDR:
